The Gesellschaft gegen Gewichtsdiskriminierung e.V. (German Association against Weight Discrimination) is a socio-political association that aims to improve the social acceptance of fat people and to counteract discrimination based on body weight. It was founded in 2005. We do not regard fatness as a deficit. Rather, we understand fatness as a human rights issue. We provide information and advice, draw public attention to the topic, point out alternatives to discriminatory language and demeanor and do preventive work against weight discrimination. Since 2016, the German Association against Weight Discrimination has been campaigning for the inclusion of weight into the General Equal Treatment Act (GETA) and into State antidiscrimination laws.
Bewegungsstiftung is a community foundation based in Verden near Bremen. It supports social movements working for ecology, peace and human rights with grants and advice. Bewegungsstiftung is supported by over 240 endowment donors from all over Germany. We provide support where others stop: in areas of protest and public action. We do not act charitably, as many other foundations do, but tackle social grievances from the root by supporting social movements as motors of political change.

Hilary Kinavey, MS, LPC and Dana Sturtevant, MS, RD, are the co-founders of Be Nourished which has recently evolved into the Center for Body Trust, a leading voice in the mission to address body oppression and heal body shame. Since 2005, they have been holding space for people looking to let go of chronic patterns of dieting, disordered eating, and weight cycling. After years of deep listening, Hilary and Dana co-created their Body Trust® approach to help people find a way to truly heal and move towards a compassionate, sustainable form of self care. In a culture dominated by weight bias and body oppression, they believe reclaiming Body Trust® is the key to feeling psychologically and physically nourished. We would like to thank Center for Body Trust for their continued support of the WSC.
