Two currently available grants from Wellcome Trust in the UK may be of interest.
1. Small arts awards
Deadline 1st June 2016.
Wellcome Trust invites applications for its arts awards for small projects. These support artistic work that critically engages artists and audiences with biomedical science. Funding supports the R&D of new project ideas or ways of working, investigating and experimenting with new methods of engagement through the arts, or funds final production costs of new work.
Applicant organisations or individuals must primarily be based in the UK or the Republic of Ireland. The scheme is open to a wide range of people including artists, scientists, curators, writers, producers, directors, academics and education officers.
These awards will be temporarily postponed after the end of this round and more details on next year’s prize are expected in November 2016.
Awards are worth up to £40,000 each, and 90 per cent of the grant is usually paid up front with the remainder due at the end of the activity.

2. Development awards for broadcast, games, and film
Deadline 27th July 2016.
The Wellcome Trust invites applications for its development awards for broadcast, games and film. These support the development of TV, radio, games or film projects that engage with biomedical sciences and its impact on people’s lives in an innovative, entertaining and accessible way. Funding may also support projects that are currently in production but need additional research to shape their final product.
Applicants must be based in the UK or the Republic of Ireland, although other members of the team may be based overseas. The scheme is open to candidates working the broadcast, games and film industries. Partnerships between those working in the industries and other professionals, such as scientists, ethicists and educators, is preferred. Projects must be primarily aimed at an UK and ROI audience, although the subject matter may be international.
Awards are worth up to £10,000 each over one year.
