The Gesellschaft gegen Gewichtsdiskriminierung e.V. (German Association against Weight Discrimination) is a socio-political association that aims to improve the social acceptance of fat people and to counteract discrimination based on body weight. It was founded in 2005. We do not regard fatness as a deficit. Rather, we understand fatness as a human rights issue. We provide information and advice, draw public attention to the topic, point out alternatives to discriminatory language and demeanor and do preventive work against weight discrimination. Since 2016, the German Association against Weight Discrimination has been campaigning for the inclusion of weight into the General Equal Treatment Act (GETA) and into State antidiscrimination laws.
Founded in 1936, SPSSI is an international group of psychologists, allied scientists, students, and others who share a common interest in research on the psychological aspects of important social issues. SPSSI seeks to bring theory and practice into focus on human problems of the group, the community, and nations, as well as the increasingly important problems that have no national boundaries. SPSSI publishes three scholarly journals, and hosts a broad range of funding opportunities and programs to further its mission. The organization provides its members with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and insights to the critical problems of today’s world. Bewegungsstiftung is a community foundation based in Verden near Bremen. It supports social movements working for ecology, peace and human rights with grants and advice. Bewegungsstiftung is supported by over 240 endowment donors from all over Germany. We provide support where others stop: in areas of protest and public action. We do not act charitably, as many other foundations do, but tackle social grievances from the root by supporting social movements as motors of political change.

AED’s main event is the annual International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED), a scientific conference that spans research and education from basic science to the treating clinician. ICED is attended by leading international researchers and includes presentations and discussions on the cutting edge of research in the field.
In operation since 2002, Hope’s EDS is a registered charitable organization committed to helping those living with an eating disorder, and disordered eating, along with their caregivers, friends and family. Our pillars of service include providing online resources to assist with navigating the healthcase system. We offer public education and outreach to raise awareness and to help end the stigma associated with this illness. Focussing on early intervention we recently launched a workshop for adolescent girls to encourage positive body image, self care and media literacy.
The Eating Disorders Foundation of Canada was established in 1995 by President Emeritus, Dr. Robbie Campbell and is a national, not-for-profit registered charity. EDFC is committed to raising funds to support evidence based care for, research into, and increased awareness about eating disorders in Canada. Partnering with other organizations and individuals, the Eating Disorders Foundation of Canada contributes to support a stronger voice for those who suffer from eating disorders.
Body Brave is a charitable organization that offers innovative treatment and support to adults struggling with eating disorders and their families. Our focus is on digital health solutions to optimize accessibility. Body Brave is working with partners across Canada to develop a cutting-edge e-platform to fill the gaps in eating disorder training and education for healthcare professionals.
NIED is the voice for Canadian families, caregivers and individuals who are challenged by Eating Disorders and other co-morbid and concurrent diagnoses. We help caregivers, patients and practitioners fill gaps in care through education and by highlighting better practices in prevention, health promotion and treatment. NIED is working with stakeholders across the country to address the gaps in current services, delays in treatment, lack of pan-Canadian data, and insufficient training for clinicians and healthcare professionals.
The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) is a registered Canadian charity that has been helping Canadians affected by eating disorders since 1985. We operate Canada’s only national toll-free helpline and instant chat program which provides support, information and referrals to individuals struggling with food and weight preoccupation issues, as well as the families, friends, and professionals who care for them. With a focus on eating disorder risk factors, NEDIC delivers prevention-focused workshops to diverse audiences and facilitates professional development through our outreach and education program. The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. NEDA serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures and access to quality care. Sheena’s Place is a Toronto-based community mental health charity that supports individuals affected by eating disorders. The Looking Glass Foundation for Eating Disorders is a BC-based charity of prevention and support for those suffering from anorexia, bulimia, and other eating disorders — and those who love them. We are about getting to the other side of eating disorders, to eventually achieving a world without this devastating disease. To that end, we offer innovative programs to facilitate eating disorder prevention, early intervention, support, recovery, and sustained relapse prevention.
The Jessie’s Legacy Eating Disorders Prevention Program provides education, resources and inspiration to prevent eating disorders and address disordered eating. Created and operated by Family Services of the North Shore, this innovative program supports BC youth, families, educators and professionals through online resources, live events, social media, and the Love Our Bodies, Love Ourselves movement.

Hate Free Culture is a project founded in 2014 by the Agency for Social Inclusion and funded by the EEA and the Czech government. Hate Free Culture targets young people and works closely with schools and using social media to raise awareness, provide information, and counter hoaxes and misleading or false news stories. Innovatively, they also reach out to haters online, conducting interviews with them and asking why they feel the way they do. Their goal is to bring people together, take on difficult conversations, and work for a more inclusive society. The project has given rise to Hate Free Art, Hate Free Zones, a Hate Free Fest branding for festivals, amongst other outputs.
Founded by Dennis Relojo, Psychreg is an online platform in psychology, mental health, and well-being. To achieve its core aim of being generous in providing people with relevant information, it operates in six strands: (1) blog; (2) podcast; (3) open access publication*; (4) mental health stories; (5) events (including the 1st International Conference on Psychology, Counselling and Education – ICPCE 2018, to be held on 2nd–4th August 2018 at New Era University in the Philippines); and, (6) an international organisation.
*Psychreg Journal of Psychology (PJP) welcomes submissions from all researchers in psychology and allied fields, and particularly encourages submissions from postgraduate researchers. PJP is published in June and December, but will continuously accept submissions throughout the year.

Body Image is an international, peer-reviewed journal that publishes high-quality, scientific articles on body image and human physical appearance. Body image is a multi-faceted concept that refers to persons’ perceptions and attitudes about their own body, particularly but not exclusively its appearance. The journal invites contributions from a broad range of disciplines – psychological science, other social and behavioral sciences, and medical and health sciences. The journal publishes original research articles, brief research reports, theoretical and review papers, and science-based practitioner reports of interest. Education and Training
The Humboldt University of Berlin is the oldest university in Berlin and one of the most renowned universities in the world. Founded in 1810, the range of teaching and research offered by the University encompasses all fundamental research disciplines in the humanities, social and cultural sciences, law, life sciences, mathematics and natural sciences, medicine, agricultural sciences and research into sustainability and antiquity. Almost 38,000 young people from over 100 countries are currently studying at Humboldt University in 172 bachelor’s and master’s degree programs supervised by around 480 professors. Current projects within the research group include: exploring the delivery and response to the National Child Measurement Programme, reducing stigmatising media portrayal, and examining the impact of weight stigma on the practitioner-patient relationship.
