(German Association against Weight Discrimination) is a socio-political association that aims to improve the social acceptance of fat people and to counteract discrimination based on body weight. It was founded in 2005. We do not regard fatness as a deficit. Rather, we understand fatness as a human rights issue. We provide information and advice, draw public attention to the topic, point out alternatives to discriminatory language and demeanor and do preventive work against weight discrimination. Since 2016, the German Association against Weight Discrimination has been campaigning for the inclusion of weight into the General Equal Treatment Act (GETA) and into State antidiscrimination laws.

Founded in 1936, SPSSI is an international group of psychologists, allied scientists, students, and others who share a common interest in research on the psychological aspects of important social issues. SPSSI seeks to bring theory and practice into focus on human problems of the group, the community, and nations, as well as the increasingly important problems that have no national boundaries. SPSSI publishes three scholarly journals, and hosts a broad range of funding opportunities and programs to further its mission. The organization provides its members with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and insights to the critical problems of today’s world. Center For Discovery Eating Disorder programs employ an evidence-based, trauma-informed, weight-inclusive treatment approach to address the complex psychological, neurobiological, and medical complications of eating disorders. In 2005, Hilary Kinavey, MS, LPC and Dana Sturtevant, MS, RD co-founded the Center for Body Trust to offer programs that encourage movement toward a compassionate, weight-inclusive model of radical care to address body oppression, heal body shame and associated patterns of chronic dieting and disordered eating. The Center for Body Trust also offers training for helping professionals and educators interested in adopting client-centered, trauma-informed, justice-based approaches to healing—including an intensive year-long Body Trust Certification Program. Hilary and Dana’s work has been featured in The New York Times, Scientific American, Health, Self, Real Simple, Huffington Post, and on the TEDx stage. BewegungsstiftungBewegungsstiftung is a community foundation based in Verden near Bremen. It supports social movements working for ecology, peace and human rights with grants and advice. The Academy for Eating Disorders is a global professional association committed to leadership in eating disorders research, education, treatment, and prevention. AED’s main event is the annual International Conference on Eating Disorders (ICED), a scientific conference that spans research and education from basic science to the treating clinician. In operation since 2002, Hope’s EDS is a registered charitable organization committed to helping those living with an eating disorder, and disordered eating, along with their caregivers, friends and family. Focussing on early intervention we recently launched a workshop for adolescent girls to encourage positive body image, self care and media literacy.

The Eating Disorders Foundation of Canada was established in 1995 by President Emeritus, Dr. Robbie Campbell and is a national, not-for-profit registered charity. EDFC is committed to raising funds to support evidence based care for, research into, and increased awareness about eating disorders in Canada. NIED is the voice for Canadian families, caregivers and individuals who are challenged by Eating Disorders and other co-morbid and concurrent diagnoses. The National Eating Disorder Information Centre (NEDIC) is a registered Canadian charity that has been helping Canadians affected by eating disorders since 1985. We operate Canada’s only national toll-free helpline and instant chat program which provides support, information and referrals to individuals struggling with food and weight preoccupation issues, as well as the families, friends, and professionals who care for them. The Binge Eating Disorder Association (BEDA) is the national organization focused on providing leadership in the recognition, prevention, and treatment of Binge Eating Disorder (BED). PlusIncPlusInc is a nonprofit organization incorporated in the District of Columbia (E.I.N. # 46-4104034) promoting a size-friendly society without discrimination or stigma (IRS 501c3 Determination pending approval). Our mission is to promote the equal and fair treatment of people of all sizes. Our purpose is to promote size-friendly public policy initiatives, educate stakeholders about size-friendly products and services, and combat size-related discrimination and stigma through public education activities.

Hate Free Culture is a project founded in 2014 by the Agency for Social Inclusion and funded by the EEA and the Czech government. Hate Free Culture targets young people and works closely with schools and using social media to raise awareness, provide information, and counter hoaxes and misleading or false news stories. Innovatively, they also reach out to haters online, conducting interviews with them and asking why they feel the way they do. Their goal is to bring people together, take on difficult conversations, and work for a more inclusive society. The project has given rise to Hate Free Art, Hate Free Zones, a Hate Free Fest branding for festivals, amongst other outputs.

Founded by Dennis Relojo, Psychreg is an online platform in psychology, mental health, and well-being. To achieve its core aim of being generous in providing people with relevant information, it operates in six strands: (1) blog; (2) podcast; (3) open access publication*; (4) mental health stories; (5) events (including the 1st International Conference on Psychology, Counselling and Education – ICPCE 2018, to be held on 2nd–4th August 2018 at New Era University in the Philippines); and, (6) an international organisation.

*Psychreg Journal of Psychology (PJP) welcomes submissions from all researchers in psychology and allied fields, and particularly encourages submissions from postgraduate researchers. PJP is published in June and December, but will continuously accept submissions throughout the year.

Body image is a multi-faceted concept that refers to persons’ perceptions and attitudes about their own body, particularly but not exclusively its appearance. We would like to thank Sage for donating a copy of Qualitative Dissertation Methodology: A Guide for Research Design and Methods by Dr Nathan Durdella as a prize for Best Oral or Poster Presentation at WSC 2018. The book functions as a dissertation advisor to help students construct and write a qualitative methodological framework for their research. Drawing from the challenges author Nathan Durdella has experienced while supervising students, the book breaks down producing the dissertation chapter into smaller pieces and goes through each portion of the methodology process step by step.
