About the Bursary Fund
The Weight Stigma Conference is a not-for-profit event and we set registration at break-even levels. This is done to keep prices as low as possible for everybody. But this means we do not have additional funds to subsidise people who need financial assistance to attend.
In the last few years we have begun crowdfunding a Bursary Fund and this has enabled many people to attend the conference who otherwise haven’t been able to. Bursaries are awarded on a first come, first served basis, but with priority given to presenters. Occasionally, individual donations are targeted at members of specific groups.
We rely on the generosity of individual donors. If you could pass the crowdfunding page onto friends, family, colleagues etc, this will help make the conference financially more accessible for everyone. If you could make even a small donation to the fund yourself, that’d be great.

Bursaries are intended for individuals without a stable income or other source of support. There are never enough bursaries for everyone who wants one. If you apply for a bursary and it is awarded, somebody else may not get one. We understand that it is nice to not have to pay for conferences, but if you are able to, please let somebody else use the bursary.
If you would still like to apply for a bursary, please complete the form below. There are no deadlines for standard bursary applications. Availability of bursaries depends entirely on the amount of funding raised for this purpose. You can increase your chances by sharing the crowdfunding page!
