The National Institute for Health Research invites applications for its research for patient benefit programme. This supports research that directly benefits users of the National Health Services in England. Proposals may cover a wide range of health service issues or challenges in public health, such as:
•studies of the provision and use of NHS services;
•evaluations of the effectiveness and cost effectiveness of interventions;
•examinations of the use of resources of alternative means for healthcare delivery;
•scrutinising innovations and developments;
•feasibility studies.
NHS bodies and other providers of NHS services in England may apply. Applications may include academic partner organisations outside England, provided that the chosen partner is best placed to provide the academic input to the planned research. Collaborations with social care and third sector providers of healthcare are encouraged.
Grants are worth up to £350,000 each for a maximum of three years.
