Culture Race and Health Transdisciplinary Core
The Culture, Race and Health Transdisciplinary Core is seeking tenure-track faculty and visiting fellows to join us in improving health outcomes and reducing health disparities within a local health district using community-engaged research and activities. Our core addresses how culture and race / ethnicity impact health and overall well-being, in particular among populations in greater Richmond, Virginia experiencing health disparities. We engage in collaborative team science to understand the mechanisms underlying health disparities, and develop culturally informed interventions that are acceptable to community members and are effective in reducing disparities. Core activities include teaching, research and service.
The Institute for Inclusion, Inquiry and Innovation (iCubed) at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) builds human capital across the university and community. iCubed connects multiple disciplines and lived experiences through the creation of transdisciplinary cores: university-community partnerships that endeavor to solve problems that disproportionately impact populations in urban areas. Applicants must demonstrate a strong interest in working within a transdisciplinary team in areas related to health disparities, culture and health, community-engaged research, intervention science, and / or program evaluation.
