Grants and Awards from Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues

FYI.

Annual Awards

SPSSI fosters and funds research on social issues through annual awards and programs. SPSSI is now accepting applications for awards with deadlines this Spring. Please share this widely and encourage your talented colleagues and students to apply.
Louise Kidder Early Career Award

The Louise Kidder Early Career Award recognizes social issues researchers who have made substantial contributions to the field early in their careers. The award is named for a living person—Louise Kidder—in honor of her own early career accomplishments and contributions to SPSSI. Nominees should be investigators who have made substantial contributions to social issues research within ten years of receiving a graduate degree and who have demonstrated the potential to continue such contributions. Visit the Louise Kidder Early Career Award page for more details. Application deadline: June 1, 2018.

The Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize

The Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize honors the memory of a founder and past-president of SPSSI. An award of $1000 is given to “the best paper or article of the year on intergroup relations” – a field about which Professor Allport cared deeply. Originality of the contribution, whether theoretical or empirical, will be given special weight. The research area of intergroup relations includes such dimensions as age, gender, and socioeconomic status, as well as ethnicity. Visit the Gordon Allport Intergroup Relations Prize page for more details. Application deadline: June 15, 2018.

Please contact Victor Adebusola, SPSSI’s Membership and Program Coordinator, with questions about SPSSI’s grants and awards programs at vadebusola@spssi.org.

International Collaborations

SPSSI-EASP Small International Conference

Call for Proposals: Proposals are invited for grants to support small, international conferences, to be sited in Europe in 2019. A conference can be planned as a pre-conference attached to the EASP convention, but this is not required. Conference planning should allow sufficient advance notice for advertisement to the membership of both organizations. For more information about the Joint SPSSI-EASP Small International Conference and this Call for Proposals visit the webpage. Deadline: August 1, 2018.

SPSSI-SASP Small Group Conference

Call for Proposals: Those interested in submitting a proposal for the 2019 meeting have the option of planning the small group meeting as a pre-conference or post-conference event around the SASP conference in Sydney in April 2019 or the SPSSI conference in North America, but this is certainly not essential. Feedback/decisions to this round of proposals/letters of interest will be provided to applicants by July 15, 2018. For more information about the SPSSI-SASP Small Group Conference and this Call for Proposals visit the webpage or contact David Livert. Deadline: June 15, 2018(PLEASE NOTE REVISED DEADLINE)
